One Penny's Worth - 11.04.09

It was Gay High Holiday and the Gays WERE OUT!!! We started out the week with the cast and crew of RENT at Below Zero on Wednesday Night. It was so much fun and all the gays stayed until the wee hours. I was back at Below Zero playing DJ on Friday and let me tell you it was GREAT! Everyone was bar-hopping in their costumes and really having a fun time. I did a little preview for their Madd Hatter party with some crazy makeup and a silly hat - it was a fun night.

Saturday we headed to Aqaurius in Dayton, OH for Tranny Shaq - A Ho's Halloween with Alana Reighn, National Holiday, Crystyle Starr, our DJ Brian Below (nee Honey) and lil ol me (wink). Our Gay Pirate won the costume contest ($150) and all the gays hung out drinking with all their friends. Gay High Holiday is so much fun! If you haven't been to Aquarius in a minute, check out their new layout with VIP space and a really great platform seating area.

Sunday was our day of rest, but we did leave the house long enough to enjoy dinner with some friends.

One Penny's Worth - 10.28.09

I know I say this every week, but what fun we had last week!!!

We started out on Wednesday at Below Zero where I'm your all request DJ every Wednesday Night.  Matty P and I always have fun with the gays at the bar - so come down and make a request.  $4 Three Olives Cocktails  WOO HOO!!!

Thursday I was up at Union in Columbus with Virginia West, Paige Passion and Bev.  WHAT FUN!!!  I just love workin up there and you gays are just awesome!  We did a quick show and enjoyed the Thursday Night Long Island Specials!  Talk about CHEAP!!  We missed Nina because she was off to Chicago - she just loves to jet-set around the country!

Friday, Jessica asked me back at The Dock in Cincinnati. Talk about a GREAT SHOW!  I mean to tell you we had fun!  Jessica, Wendy Williams, Quasi, Queen B and Me - We ROCKED that show!  I was worried they wouldn't know "tardy for the party" but they sure did and we had a great time.  they asked me back on December 4th!!!

Saturday I was back at Below Zero as your ALL REQUEST DJ. The gays were dancing all night long and so was that crazy Bridal Party that showed up a little late.  We celebrated Ron's birthday (he also has a new catering company - get him at chefronnie@hotmail.com)  We always have fun at Below Zero and I'll play whatever you want ('cept for the Willy Nelson and Patsy Cline - love 'em - but I'm just not gonna play it!  LOL)  Below Zero is having an amazing Mad Hatter's Halloween on Saturday!  They're Giving away tickets to RENT and the cast and company will be coming down to Below Zero after the show!  If you're gonna be in Cincinnati, you dont wanna miss this one!

Sunday was truly our day of rest - I even turned the phone off!  LOLOL

One Penny's Worth - 10.21.09

We have been putting some miles on the car and seeing some amazing gays all over the country!

We started out this week at Below Zero for iCandy - each and every Wednesday Night - $4 Three Olives Cocktails and all your friends sitting around the bar while I play DJ!  It's All Request - so come on down and play with us (smile)

Thursday and Friday we were in Indianapolis for the Miss USofA@Large Pageant.  Monica St. James did an AMAZING job and we had a great couple of days out of town.  I got a chance to chat with all kinds of friends (I love you Asia!!) who came into town for the pageant. Shawn and Talbott Street  were amazing hosts and it was awesome to finally see Craig Henderson!  What a trip!  

Saturday I was back at Below Zero for the HRC Equality Cabaret.  Everyone was amazing!!!  Sherry McCamly was our pianist for the whole night and did a couple of sets herself.  Her daughter Erin, Will and Brent Miller also did a set and we raised $1400 for the HRC. Below Zero is committed to doing a fundraising event on the third Saturday of every month.  The next one is November 21st - Join us as we GIVE BACK one Saturday Night a month!

Sunday we hosted a lovely little going away dinner for one of our new friends from Houston, TX.  MEANWHILE - at Aquarius in Dayton - the Miami Valley Gay Pride Pageant was going on - National Holiday took home the crown and we'll get to see Christina Lustra and Holly Summers at Miss Ohio Gay Pride November 13, 14, 15 at Axis Night Club!

Monday was our delayed day of rest (wink)

One Penny's Worth - 09.14.09

What a week!!!!  We put 1153 miles on the car between Cincinnati, DC, Cleveland and back home to Cincinnati this past week!

We started off Downtown at Below Zero Lounge for iCandy where I am your All Request DJ every Wednesday Night.  We start with Glee at 9pm and then onto a Little Penny Tration (wink).  We have a nice little crowd and a really fun time.  Join us on Wednesday Nights for Glee and iCandy at Below Zero Lounge.

Then the tour of the Eastern US started VERY early on Friday Morning (6am) as we hit the road to Columbus.  We were meeting the findfred team up there to head to DC for the Equality March Weekend!  We had an amazing trip and got into DC just before 5
6 with all of our little stops in the middle of nowhere.

We hit all of Dupont Circle and I did a quick number at EFN before heading over to JR's and had a great Friday Night in DC.  Saturday  Started early as we did a tour of DC during the day and stopped into the Fireplace just after our visit to Starbucks.

Saturday night we had quite an adventure getting from our hotel to Ziegfelds, but once we were there we had an AMAZING night.  The gays there were awesome!!  And all the neked dudes dancing on the bar!! HELLO!!!!  Miss Ella Fitzgerald let me be in the show with her and I had a blast!  LOL  what a great night.

Then it was up early again to head back to Bounce for the Miss Cleveland Gay Pride prelim.  It was great to visit with everyone and Sidney Paige was our lucky contestant and I cant wait to see what she brings to the Miss Ohio Gay Pride in November at Axis!  It's coming QUICK!!

Finally, we were headed home after a really long trip and slept most of Monday away!

One Penny's Worth - 09.30.09

We had a really great week with friends and OVEREATING!!!

Tuesday, Kevin and Micheal treated us to a lovely dinner.  I don't think we've just sat around and overeaten like that in forever!  It was a lovely dinner (and you should REALLY try the lemon drop martini at McCormick and Schmick) and we have to do it again soon.  Thanks boys!!

Wednesday I was back for iCandy at Below Zero and GLEE.  Glee starts at 9p, we always have some sort of new amazing CD giveaway (Rufus, Ledesi, Mika, PCD, Katy Perry to name a few) and, of course, I'm there as your all request DJ all night long.  Some of the boys from the Men's Chorus came over and kept me company while Matt P tended bar (smile).  Every Wednesday Night - $4 three olives vodka, Glee, and Penny T!

Thursday we were yet again treated to a lovely dinner.  Jeff and Dwayne had us over to OVEREAT again!  Wow did we eat last week.  They're always so lovely and we had a great time making fun of wresting on tv....It is funny to watch!

Friday we were back at Below Zero for the Midpoint Music festival AfterParty.  WOW was it busy!  They were packed up in there 6 or 8 deep at the bar.  Those bartenders were working their butts off all night long. Remember - I'm your all request DJ - I'll pretty much play anything you want (think late 80's/early 90's)....except Willy Nelson...no more Willy Nelson requests (wink)

Saturday I was back at Adonis for a one night only performance and hosting the show for Monica.  It was AWESOME to be back!  You gays were incredible!!!  We had a really fun show with Crystyle Starr, Tyese Reigns (loved that gaga hair!!), Quasi and Me.  Monica made it back early to do the last half of the show with us, too!  It was really and incredible night and we were all very flattered by you gays coming out to see us.

This week is a gonna be fun with trips to columbus and lexington mixed in there.

Friday - a day trip to Columbus to un-install my art at Union - if there was something you had your eye on - you have until Thursday Night to run in there and get it!

Sunday - Mr. Ohio Gay Pride @ Axis in Columbus!  Brent is stepping down and you know it's gonna be fun!

Next week is HUGE!  The Equality March in Washington DC is next Sunday.  We are going to be there with the FindFred Team!  I will be tweeting all weekend long - so, if you're gonna be there and we're not already connected on Twitter - look me up - www.twitter.com/pennytration

We'l be running back from DC to Cleveland for the Miss Cleveland Gay Pride Pageant at Bounce....It's gonna be one hello of a weekend!

One Penny's Worth - 09.23.09

I discovered the joys of 5HourEnergy on Saturday/Sunday!

But First!!  Wednesday Night for iCandy was a great time.  I'm you're all request DJ every Wednesday Night at Below Zero and we have great drink specials!  $4 Three Olives Vodka.  Come down and watch Glee from 9-10 and then have fun with me in the DJ Booth.

Friday I was back at Below Zero playing DJ for the Big Gay Bingo After Party! Those Gays were having fun!  We really had a blast with them after they'd been upstairs playing bingo for charity for a few hours. It was awesome!  Everyone was here and we gave away a three day trip to Key West, too!  

Saturday was a test of my endurance.  Will was staying in Cincinnati to sing with Sherry McCamley (sp?) at her nightly cabaret.  They said they had a good night and Will get a feel for the room.  He'll be doing the Below Zero Charity Night in November with Sherry and some special guests.  He's working on getting the UC Harmony Fund Involved as well as the Cast of Hair!  Should be a fun night...

But I went on a trek to Sandusky, OH for the Miss Sandusky Gay Pride Pageant at Club X. 6 hours later, we finally found our way out of the cornfields of middle america and had an adult beverage at the bar!  April Evangelista took home the prize and we had a great cast of entertainers!  Paige, Lita and Brent drove up together and had a fun afternoon exploring the city. 

Then we got back in the car and, luckily didn't get lost in the cornfields!  We were home and in bed by 9am.  After a quick nap and some more 5hour energy, I got things ready for the Mr. Midwest USofA Pageant at Adonis.  I told you it was a crazy weekend!  LOL
  Wendy Williams was promoting the pageant and Blake Taylor took the crown.  He's headed to Houston at the end of September.

I dont remember monday...LOL

One Penny's Worth - 09.16.09

There's a fun week ahead of us!

Last Week's Recap - Tuesday I ran up to Columbus for a photoshoot for Ohio Gay Pride with Brent Fabian.  It was a ton of fun (and the little pooches were cute).  Thanks to all the guys who came out to help direct us in the photoshoot and, of course, our lovely photographer.  Thanks guys!  I'll be posting more photos soon (who loves photoshop) but you can see a few of them on facebook now.  Thanks again for all the help (and the pretty pictures).

Friday we were up at Old Street for the Quasi and Friends Show.  It's the second Friday of every month and boy do we have a good time up there! Don't forget the Miss Old Street Pageant on Sept 26th!

Saturday I was you're All Request DJ at Below Zero.  Everyone was Bar Hoping all night long and the waves of gays all had a good time with the late 80s/early 90's music requests.  Some of these songs I had forgotten about!  Of course, as soon as I played the C&C Music Factory all the gays went crazy!  LOL  Thanks again for coming out to play with me at Below Zero.

One Penny's Worth - 09.09.09

Hey Everyone!!!  It was a weekend to remember (from what I can remember!)(wink)

Friday we started out at Aquarius for Miss Dayton Gay Pride - we had two wonderful contestants, Madison Avenue and Dee Ranged - Dee took home the title, but Madison did an excellent job and I'm sure we have some very exciting things in store for us in November!  We had a cast of thousands entertaining the gays, Alana Reign (miss Cincinnati Gay Pride), Rob Austin (mister Dayton Gay Pride), Alexis Ohara, Paige Passion, Brent Fabian (mister Ohio gay Pride), Ethan West (Mister Columbus Gay Pride), Sinthia D'Meanor and Honey Below.  It was a really fun night backstage as well as on stage and Montana did an amazing job putting the pageant together.

Saturday came VERY early as we had to head up to Union in Columbus to get all the art work hung in advance of the Gallery Hop and show later that night.  Beverly, Colin and Michael helped us get everything in order before we headed to the hotel for a disco nap.  Then off we went back to Union for the meet and greet and to do the show with Nina West.  We had a FANTASTIC TIME!!!!  Nina is always so awesome and, of course, Beverly is an awesome DJ.  Not only did we do a little show, but Nina got a memeber of the audience to get a haircut (and Jeremy to take his shirt off) for the CATF ($300).  We also auctioned off one of my paintings ($125) for the CATF.  Just goes to show you that a half naked boy trumps art anyday!  LOL!!  The art has been really well received and will be up thru September.  Four sold already - so I've gotta get some new stuff done pretty quick!! Huge thanks to everyone in Columbus for the warm welcome this weekend!

Sunday we were back home after a quick brunch with Beverly.  We had to get back here for the show at Shooters - Nothing like a little Holiday Weekend Drag Show after the fireworks on the river!  We had a great time with Roberta, Truly, Gypsy and Ed.  It was a fun crowd (and nice to see Chad Edwards in town for a change!!)  Thanks to Daddy Howard for letting the gays play at Shooters on a Sunday Night.

One Penny's Worth - 09.01.09 - HUGE HOLIDAY WEEKEND ALERT !!

Talk about  a huge weekend coming up!!  But First - this past weekend was a blast! 

We started out at Below Zero on Friday Night where I am your ALL REQUEST DJ!!  LOL - it was really fun and this month we put a Motown twist on everything - Not to worry - we still ended up in the late 80's and early 90s (with some lady gaga and beyonce thrown in there just for kicks) for the gays.  It was a super fun night - thanks to Nigel and JC for having us down - Keep your eyes pealed for the newest Wednesday Night fun in Cincinnati at BZ!!  "iCandy"  - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=119724801461

Saturday Night I made my way up to Aquarius to be with the LEGENDARY Misty Night, Dyalan and Landon Gauge and Lex!  We had fun and the weather was PERFECT for a little patio time between shows.  Absolut was there giving away shots and we had a really great show.  It was great to see Christine, National, Vincent and Daray (thanks for giving that dress a good home)(wink).  HUGE thanks to Honey Below for juggling the calendar for me - you're a peach!

Sunday was truly a day of rest - it was so pretty and the doggies were frolicking all day.

THIS WEEK IS HUGE!!!

Friday Night at Aquarius I will be stepping down as Miss Dayton Gay Pride!  It is the prelim I won before going on to win Miss Ohio Gay Pride (coming up in November!)  Montana is an amazing promoter and a huge supporter of the system - so come out and play with us this weekend at the Miss Dayton Gay Pride Pageant @ Aquarius on Friday Night!

Saturday is another HUGE milestone in my career.  Thanks to the loving support of a few friends (Beverly Ford, Nina West, Rajesh and the guys at Union Cafe) I will be showing my Art at Union Cafe for the Gallery Hop (and the month of September) this weekend. Monday - Pile of GOO!!!!  I'm sure we'll see the inside of the Kroger and the bottom of a chinese food takeout container - but that's about all (wink).

One Penny's Worth - 08.18.09

We had a lot to celebrate last week. Two of our best friends celebrated their birthday last week - Nina West and Dusty Garner (both on facebook if you aren't already friends) were partying like it was 1999.  Happy Birthday Again you two!!!

Wednesday Night we were at Yadda.  Will had never been on a Wednesday night and we had a really fun time with Bell and Queen B in the dressing room.  If you wanna booking at Yadda - Contact Dann Schlacter (also on Facebook) for more information.

Thursday Night we headed down to Below Zero and met Ann and Chad for a hot minute.  We had to get back home to take care of the pooches - but we had a really good time (thanks to Josh and Brian behind the bar).  Big Thanks to Chad for buying one of my pieces of art (showing at Below Zero RIGHT NOW!!)  You'll be seeing more of me at Below Zero in the coming months...."Penny Candy" (where I am you're all request DJ) has been such a big success that we're gonna do it as a weekly party starting in September.  Keep you eyes pealed for more information on that!

Friday Night we were up at Old Street for the Quasi and Friends show!!!  It is always one of our Favorite shows of the month and this month was no disappointment!  We had an old stripper trying to show us some moves even!  The soccer moms were out in full force and Chris S and Shawn B even made the drive up!  Thanks to Booshee and Dale for having us - we love seeing you guys (and the HUGE cocktails!!)

Saturday was a big night at Adonis.  We did a little Benefit show for Monica St. James - She's on her way to Miss USofA@Large and we all donated our pay to help get her there.  She is also  your new show Director at Adonis, so bug her if you are looking to break into the Cincinnati scene (wink).  It was Quasi, Monica, Rachel Lickmore, Mirage Love and me doin our thing.  Of course, Marquita was on the new and improved box all night long!  Huge thanks to Adam and Thad for having us.

This week is LIGHT!!  Can you believe it??? - well, it's kinda light.....we're still gonna be out all over town  LOL

One Penny's Worth - 08.12.09

Hello All - I'm back again with my recap of the week's events!  This past week we made our way back to Yadda on Wednesday for the show with Bella Dolce and Queen B.  Dann Schlachter hosted this week and we had a great crowd including some of the folks from the newly remodeled (and reopened) Hamburger Mary's on Vine Street.  It was a good time yet again.

Friday we had another Prelim to Miss Ohio Gay Pride - It was Jeff McNeil's Miss ShowGirl Gay Pride and we had three contestants.  Ming Vaz, Champale St. Clair and Rachel Torez Kolby.  Rachel took the crown home and I can't wait to see what these girls will be doing at State!  Huge thanks to Jeff and Lita once again.  It's always so nice to be up in Columbus. We got to see Tina and Tonya, Paige, Brent (my videographer for the night - thanks mister) Jeff, Thacker and Crew - Not to mention that Beverly Ford and Nina West kept me company all day while I had some downtime.  Thanks Gays!!!!!  I'll see you all again on August 22nd for Miss Capitol City Gay Pride!

Saturday I was your All Request DJ at Below Zero for their 2-Year Anniversary Party.  Below Zero has become quite a staple in Cincinnati and I was glad to help them ring in Year Number Two.  I'm there the last Friday of the month for "Penny Candy" (it's cheap and sweet! LOL)...keep your eyes open for some excited news about a new week-night party that will be coming up in September!  ooh...a teaser!  LOL  Thanks to Nigel and JC for letting me play with the gays.  There are tons of photos on Facebook - I was looking CRAZY (those lips!)

Sunday was truly a day of rest.  The only people who saw my smiling face were at Kroger.

Okay - sappy moment - I really do have to take the time to thank Nina West for her friendship and guidance.  There aren't too many people in the world who I have felt closer to.  As she celebrates her birthday this week (August 10th if you missed it) please join me in congratulating her on a job well done.  Not only was she an amazing representative at EOY this past year, but she also managed to keep her normal schedule going, produced and/or appeared in three or four HUGE productions in Columbus, helped get www.FindFred.com out to the masses AND started a new relationship (we love you Miles).....All of that with a smile on her face and a quick "I love you" for all of us.  She is a true friend to all who know her.

One Penny's Worth - 08.05.09

Wow - Is it really August 2009 already?  This past weekend was a big milestone that many of us were working toward - the Final Night of EOY and Nina West's Step-Down.

But before Sunday - we were at Yadda on Wednesday with Queen B, Bella Dolce and, of course, Dann Schlachter put it all together for us.  Remember Wednesday Night is Boy's NIght at Yadda!  Friday Night we were down at Below Zero for the awesome DJ gig!  We always have so much fun there - thanks to Nigel and JC for letting me "spin" there the last Friday of the month.  Saturday I had a fantastic time down at Pulse in Lexington, KY.  It's an incredible new bar that you have to make a visit to!  Lexington finally got a new place for the gays to play.  Special thanks to Mya for her hospitality and to JD and EV for having us down - I hope I get to see you gays again!!

Now - onto this EOY Final Night (congratulations to Bianca Nicole).....There are too many people to mention and I'm sure I'll accidentally leave someone's name out - so I'm not gonna name names.  You all know who you are and how amazing this weekend's experience was for all of us. We shared an amazing weekend - and cussed Nina out a couple of times (wink)....and it allowed me to feel very close to all of you which I thank you for. Thank you for letting me have a little part in helping Nina step down with a bang!

Now onto the "sappy" part...There is something about Nina West...Everyone who meets Nina knows what I'm talking about. Maybe it's that she tells you that she loves you every chance she gets...maybe it's because she doesn't take herself too seriously....maybe it's because we are in awe of her ability to put this HUGE productions together with the help of a cast of thousands...Maybe it's becuase she's one of the nicest people on earth....Maybe...just maybe...it's because we love her, too.
We even love her as we were cussing her name while running thru the final night production on the top floor of the parking garage at the Residence Inn Hotel in downtown Louisville, KY (while drinking gallons of mt dew and popping claritin LOL)

We Love You Nina West.  Thanks for bringing us all together and letting us love you.....and congratulations on a fantastic year representing National Entertainer of the Year.

One Pennys Worth - 07.28.09


It's me again!  I know you can't wait for these weekly updates with all my misspellings and poor grammar (not to mention my over-capitalization).

Last week started out on Wednesday with a fun show at the Yadda Club in Covington, KY.  Jessica Dimon had a really good time with Luka and all the gays who came out to play with us. Special thanks to Dann Schlacter for putting it all together for us and a shoutout to TJ!

Friday I worked at The Dock for the first time in nearly 5 years.  I was a touch nervous about the show, but with all of your help, I did all the songs you wanted to hear and we had a really awesome show!  Huge thanks to Jessica for having me and I hope to be back again next month (smile).

One Penny's Worth - The REALLY LONG EDITION - 07.21.09

Well it has certainly been an exciting couple of weeks – here's the abridged version of our travels and all the fun we've had! 

Thursday, July 9th – We headed to Talbott Street in Indianapolis with Monica St. James.  She won Miss Illinois USofA @ Large and we got to meet Victoria Parker and spend some quality time with Coco Van Catier.  It was a great night and Shawn Batton really knows how to keep that place running! 

Friday, July 10th we were up at Old Street in Monroe, OH for the Quasi and Friends Show.  Holly Below joined Me, Monica and Quasi for one of the best shows of the month.  We always have fun up there and this month was no exception.  Join us the second Friday of every month! 

Saturday, July 11th I was at Adonis helping Monica celebrate her birthday and BOY OH BOY did she celebrate!  We had a fantastic crowd and an amazing show!  It was nice to be back at Adonis for the show – I'll be there once a month (August 15th is my next time there). 

Then on Sunday, July 12th we were down on Main Street for the Annual Drag Races that coincide with Second Sundays on Main. It was awesome this year (and there are a TON of photos on facebok to attest to this fact!!  A TON).  It's pretty awesome every year, but this year was just wonderful – we had such a great time!  Big thanks to Nigel and JC at Below Zero for putting it all together. 

This last weekend started on Wednesday for a new gig at Yadda Club.  Angel and Dann Schlacter have put a show together and asked me to help emcee the whole thing. We had a fun time this last week and are gonna keep it up!  Show at 11-ish (wink) 

On Friday we started our tour of Ohio!  PJ at the Interbelt asked me to come up there this past Friday so, we headed out of Cincinnati around 4 and had a really easy drive up to Akron.  The club was so welcoming and nice!  Ashley was a great hostess and everyone is Akron was REALLY fun!  PJ asked me to come back up there – so I have to get with him on my dates in October – keep your eyes pealed for more Penny Tration in Akron!  LOL 

We left the hotel around Noon and headed to Columbus.  Beverly Ford met us for lunch and pretty much entertained us all day.  We shopped and walked around the Short North making fun of everyone we know.  It was great – but then it was time to get down to business.   Miss Ohio America was going on at Axis – so after getting all gussied up and walking down High Street – we headed over to the pageant.  EVERYONE was there.  I was so surprised to see it that busy on a prelim night.  Tiffany and Aaron have done a lovely job with the pageant and the National Owners, Larry and Terry, were there as well (we had a very nice chat with them about pageants and gays inbetween talent numbers)(wink).  

Then it was off to Union for the show with Nina West, Virgnina West, Me and the Illustrious talents of Miss Kitty Litter!  It was so much fun (watch the video of me and Nina being complete monkeys!)  We were there until about 12:30 before heading back over to Axis for their Cabaret Room show.  Rob asked me to do a quick number and before long it was time to go home. 

We really had a fantastic visit and it was a little sad to go home…but a took a bunch of Nina's Fabric with me so I'm sure she'll come hunting me down for it!  LOL 

SHEW!!!  What a couple of weeks huh?   We have had a fun time and the fun times are not over!  Here's what's coming up!

One Penny's Worth - 06.23.09

Columbus Gay Pride Celebrations….All I can say is WOW!  Will and I jetted up to Columbus after work on Friday for the  Kick-Off at Score Bar where I got to host the strip show!  Before making our way over to score we met up with the Lovely Beverly Ford.  She was playing our hostess for the evening and had the AC cranked way down for us!  Huge Thanks to Bev' and Nina for hooking a sister up with accommodations (smile) 

Then over to Score for the show.  I've never actually hosted a strip show, so it was interesting. Funny thing, its not really any different than a drag show – though they are paid to take their clothes off and I'm paid to keep my clothes on LOL.  It was PACKED in Score all night long with the Skyy Fusion guys doing their thing on the patio and us doing ours on the stage (and the pool table and on top of the bar and on the tables….it was quite a night!!)(smile)  Big thanks to Shane, Brian and Tim for making it possible for me to be there.  We had a great time and I mean to tell you it was PACKED In there.....Tony was a perfect DJ, Shane and Christina were fantastic Bartenders (smile)

Saturday was a Marathon of Pride!  We started off at Somewhere else to get ready for the Parade.  Lita had set up the truck and we headed down to the Parade route.  Thankfully there was a lovely breeze for most of the day and we didn't roast.  It was warm, but no one died of a heat stroke!  The Columbus Gay Pride Parade is Amazing!  If you've not had an opportunity to make your way up there, do yourself a favor….it's pretty incredible. 

After the parade, we headed over to check into our hotel room and get a quick shower before we were supposed to head over to the Pride Festival and then to Paul and Lita's for a little pre-show BBQ – well….a quick disco nap turned into sleeping the day away!  We didn't wake up until 6pm and had to do a quick rushing around to get ready! We missed the festival AND the bbq!

Nina West (www.superdragqueen.com) invited us to be a part of DragApalooza @ Axis and that started at 9 – so I put on some more lipgloss (LOL) and headed over to Axis with Paige Passion and Brent Fabian. It was a cast of thousands and we really had a great time.  Nina, Virginia, Alexis, Aurora, Samantha, Vee, Pretty, Fancy, Maria….gosh – there were so many people there!!  

Then we jetted back down to SomeWhere Else for the Stars of Pride Show.  It was a pretty wonderful cast of characters!  Brionna Brooks, Paige Passion, Alexis O'Hara, Brent Fabian, Ethan West, Vivi Veloure, Akasha O'hara Lords and me….what a show!  We partied with the gays until the wee hours of Saturday Morning before heading back to the hotel.  Huge Thanks to Lita Manon for always putting together such amazing shows and for driving us down the parade route! You're the best!!!! 

Sunday morning we headed back home with some well wishes for the gurls heading over to Baton Rouge to round out Columbus Gay Pride.  We finally made it home, picked up the puppy, Ginger, and laid on the couch with a huge exhale! 

This month's Gay Pride Celebrations have been a really wonderful experience. You gay shave inspired me!  Thanks for coming out in all of your respective communities and Celebrating!  I'll see you at our next Gay Pride Prelim – Miss Showgirl Gay Pride on August 7th. 

What's coming up this week??? 

Tonight is the first meeting for Nina West's National Entertainer of the Year Opening Production!  We're heading up to Columbus tonight to join in on the festivities (and to see all the sleepy gays who've just finished a very long, very hard, very fun pride weekend)

I'll be Spinning @ Below Zero on Friday – that's right, I'm you're all request dj the last Friday of every month – all the fun starts @ 10 – you pick the songs all night long. 

Saturday I'll be with the court helping with a fundraiser for the Anniversary of the Stonewall riots – bug Ed for tickets at ebcincy@aol.com

One Penny's Worth - 06.17.09

It was a FANTASTIC Gay Pride Weekend in Cincinnati that Kicked off for us @ Old Street Saloon!  The Quasi and Friends show was really awesome as we were also celebrating Mair's Birthday!  And let me tell you – EVERYONE celebrated!!  Me, Quasi and Monica gave the gays and the Soccer Mom's a great show and Booshee made sure they drank the house out of flavored Vodka!  LOL  It really was a fun show – second Friday of every month.

Then Saturday, we had a little time to relax during the day. While Quasi was running over to host the Pride Festivities in Hoffner Park, Will and I headed up for a nice gay trip to IKEA.  What could be more gay? Meatballs for lunch and some gay pride IKEA shopping!   

Then it was off to Adonis for the big night of Celebrating Pride.  Miss Adonis 2008, Leah Halston, Monica St. James, Mirage Love, Quasi and me – giving the gays all we could!  EVERYONE was out Saturday night!  It was nice to see Darlene Love again (we drive by her house nearly every day, but fail to stop for some reason! LOL).  The new platform on the dancefloor has gotten rave reviews and the gays were DANCING!!! Big Kudos to DJPatrickB

We wrapped up Saturday night a touch early (2am) and headed off to bed because Sunday was gonna come earlier than my usual waking up time….HAPPY GAY PRIDE PARADE!!!  So, up ealy on Sunday, makeup and crazy gay pride outfit on – in the car – heading over to host the gay pride parade in northside.  Brad and John over at Bronze were nice enough to set up the whole sound system and "bandstand" for me to scream from.  I'm sure I didn't keep my language as PC as they would have liked – but I DID have a good time!  LOL  AND – even got a nice review from the Examiner!  Here's the link  http://bit.ly/e4lHr 

The rain held off until just moments after the last float passed by – thank you Universe (wink).  And everyone scurried inside one establishment or another to continue their celebrating.  It was an awesome parade and in incredible turnout.  I have plenty of photos to post and I'll get them up soon 

Monday we headed down to the All American Goddess Pageant in Lexington, KY…you thought the weekend was over???  LOL…NOT YET!  We had many friends competing and it was great to see everyone!  It was a really good pageant with a ton of big names entering.  I did my best to keep the gays on CarrieFairfield updated - and my thumbs were worn out from texting!  Candi Stratton captured the title and the crown (and the sweet prize package)!  Congratulations to all the gals who made their way down to KY and keep your eyes on AAG for next year…I hear even more big things are coming. 

NOW – THIS WEEK!!!! 

  -  I'll be at Score Bar on Friday night because of my dear friends Tim and Brian hooking a sister up!  Come join us for some Columbus Gay Pride Celebrations  -  Then on Saturday I'll be in the back of a pick-up truck heading down the street in the Gay Pride Parade with Brent Fabian representing Miss  and Mr Ohio Gay Pride.  -  THEN – I'll be with Nina and Alexis and Virginia and every other Drag Queen within a 500 mile radius for Drag-A-Palooza in the parking lot behind Axis starting at 8pm!  -  BUT WAIT – THEN I'm off to the Stars of Pride Show at SomeWhere Else for the show @ 11p with Brent Fabian and a bunch of my Pride Sisters and Brothers…. AND THEN!!!!  LOL – Baton Rouge is on Sunday…we are gonna have one hell of a weekend!!!!

 HUGE SHOUTOUT and special thanks to Beverly Ford and Nina West for figuring out our accommodations for Friday Night….You gays are nicer than I could have ever thought two gays could be.   Thanks for everything and we'll see you on Friday night!

One Penny's Worth - 06.09.09

We kicked off our Pride Celebrations this past weekend! 

Okay – so I was lucky enough to be crowned Miss Ohio Gay Pride in November of last year. I have to be honest…I don't think it really hit me until Saturday.  No shade to Dayton, OH – but it is far from a gay mecca or anywhere you would expect a large Gay Pride Celebration.  WRONG! 

I find myself in the back room of Aquarius this past Saturday Morning - putting on makeup at 9:30am (imagine my horror) with 6 or 8 other entertainers getting ready for the Dayton Gay Pride Parade.  There is a flurry of activity from a collection of lesbians and gays getting a huge float ready (it really was a huge float – I have no idea where they got it!).  Just about 11am we get a bunch of "Hurry up drag queen" messages from the organizers and next think I know I'm headed down the road in a lovely vintage convertible Mercedes with Rob Austin (thanks for organizing everything mister!!).  This huge float I mentioned is in front of us with Music blasting and queens waving to the crowd.  We end the short trip around Dayton at what they called "Court House Square" that was FILLED with queers and freaks and straight people and strippers and activists and every other walk of life you can imagine.  The booth for the beer tickets was jumpin as was the folks selling burgers, dogs and pride jewelry.  It was a true Pride Celebration in every sense of the words!  Everyone in their rainbow gear and little kids splashing around in the fountain….it was a perfect moment. 

Never underestimate a Gay Pride Parade in one of the "flyover states" – We may just be Ohio, but we are Proud and the gays in Dayton, Ohio proved that to me this past weekend.  Video and photos will be up soon. 

Sunday – we kept the gay alive with a little gathering of friends at Below Zero for the Tony Awards Ceremony.  Of course, I know NOTHING about Broadway or the theatre, so I was forever asking questions and looking for guidance.  Good thing I still have friends after Sunday!  Thanks to Nigel and JC for hosting us and to Larry and Jack for sitting on the couches with us and suffering me gladly (smile) 

This week we are busy with the Cincinnati Gay Pride Celebrations.

Saturday is the Pride Show at Adonis where I'll be representing Miss Ohio Gay Pride…Monica has asked me to do a crowning number and I promise it will be a good one (smile)  Check out the event on Facebook! 

Sunday is Cincinnati's Gay Pride Parade that starts in Clifton and goes all the way down thru Northside. I'll be there Emcee-ing (is that a word at all??) the Parade and then the aftershow at Hoffner Park.  I know EVERY establishment in the city will be vying for your attention – so just be sure to go out – have fun and CELEBRATE your PRIDE!!! 

Monday we're headed down to Lexington, KY to join a few of our friends as they vie for the title of All American Goddess!  We're taking a truck-load of gays down with us, so we'll see you there!  www.allamericangoddess.com

One Penny's Worth - 06.01.09

We had a fantastic Weekend!  

Everything started on Thursday when the sweatshop opened up.  We always have fun in the sweatshop, though we barely made it to working on anything as 4 bottles of wine were gone before our guests were….made for fun conversation at least! 

We kicked off Friday Night at Below Zero in Downtown Cincinnati, OH for the DJ gig – that's right Penny's a DJ, too!  LOL  It was a really fun night – just ask Joe R or Matt K – they seemed to be enjoying themselves (wink).  Big Thanks to Nigel and JC for having us (and for requesting "Pull up to my bumper" by Grace Jones).  We're there the last Friday of the month – so I'll see you on June 26th ! 

Saturday was a great night at Old Street for the Miss Cincinnati Gay Pride Pageant.  Montana McDaniels always puts on a great pageant and this year was no exception.  Tracie Lords was stepping down, Mr Ohio Gay Pride – Brent Fabian and Mr Columbus Gay Pride – Ethan West were there with us along with Alexis O'Hara, Paige Passion, Booshee Rayburn and our two contestants, Mirage Love and Alana Reign.  It was a great competition and both gurls did a fantastic job at keeping us on our toes.  Alana ultimately took the crown and both are onto Miss Ohio Gay Pride in November.  We did a new blog for all your viewing pleasure…it'll be up soon. 

Sunday was not a day of rest, but some REALLY good work got done on the backyard!  LOL – and we had Frisch's two days in a row….I think I'll schedule that appointment with a heart-surgeon soon (wink).

I am no longer the show director at Adonis.  If you were booked to work at Adonis – PLEASE do yourself a favor and contact Monica St. James to confirm dates with her.  As well, please join me in Congratulating Monica!

One Penny's Worth - 04.20.09

We had a very easy weekend that was full of friends and fun!  

 Friday night Will and I headed to Teak in Mt. Adams for a lovely dinner and then off to Adonis for some Karaoke and friends.  I mostly sat and talked with Archie and Quasi while Will and Patrick pretended to play pool at the back of the Martini Lounge.  Ooh…and we figured out how to configure the fog machine in the Cabaret room so that it didn't look like all the gays were on fire!  It was a lovely night off to just enjoy ourselves. 

Saturday we had huge plans for the show at Adonis with Monica St. James, The Lady Jetta, a cameo performance by Ethan West and our Very Special Guest – National Entertainer of the year, Nina West.  Nina did this Awesome number with Bootsie (our friend from SC) and Ethan at the beginning of the show – the gays just love her.  Of course, Monica kept us "sexy" (wink) and jetta brought every rhinestoned costume she owns!  Lets talk for a second about her airbrushed body suit!  Incredible – in a word (smile). 

Since we're too cheap to pay for a hotel room LOL Nina, Ethan and Bootsie stayed with us and then headed to Louisville for an EOY Prelim on Sunday that I hear went really well.  They kept the gays playing until 3:45 – so it had to be a good time!  Congratulations to Daphne F!!!   Make sure to check out Nina West at www.superdragqueen.com – or at myspace or facebook…the gurl is everywhere! LOL  

ALSO…I'm hearing some rumblings about www.findfred.com   …..I'll keep you updated as I hear more…If you hear any rumblings – keep me posted!

 We took most of Sunday off to admire our backyard work (ahhh…the mulch - LOLOL)

 This week is a busy one!  

Friday I'll be back at Below Zero for the All Request DJ gig – it's 80's night again. Remember you can request any song – I'll put it in the rotation and play it (smile).  We always have fun upstairs at Below Zero. 

Saturday is a HUGE show for us at Adonis so be sure not to miss this one.  We are totally honored to get to host the famed talents of Miss Lawanda Jackson!!!!  It's gonna be one hell of a show….Miss Adonis 2008 – Leah Halston, Me, Lawanda Jackson, Quasi and Jareje Rashad!  It's the big birthday show and we are going to CELEBRATE!!!  LOL (I think that means we'll be pealing the gurls out of the dressing room at 4am again) (wink).

One Penny's Worth - 04.15.09

We sure did tour the Midwest this past week!  

Thursday we headed down to Louisville to do a show at Hotel for a party they do once a month called Hard Candy.  Absolut sponsors the event and Hotel is AMAZING (look up Daniel Cole on Facebook and Myspace).    It's in the Main St. Live area (or 4th street live…I kept getting confused) and we got to parade down the street in all our glory.  It was a fantastic night full of old and new friends.  We got to meet tracy, drew and ellen (and Daniel of course) and then even ran in to Hurricane Summers and Syimone!  The Lady Jetta, Monica and I did our best to keep those gays and straight people entertained (and the DJ was kinda cute too!)  LOL.  It was a great time and Daniel tells me he thinks we'll be doing it again soon.  Keep your eyes and ears peeled for more info.

 Friday we set aside our moral convictions for some biscuits and gravy at the cracker barrel on the way home from Louisville…then got a good nap before getting ready for the Quasi and Friends show at Old Street in Monore, Ohio.  It was a fantastic time as always.  We always seem to have fun up there!  Krystal Lamour joined me, quasi and monica and the boy at Burger King was very kind to us as we headed home. Big thanks to Booshee and Dale for having us every 2nd Friday of the month!

 Then – The long awaited return to Adonis!  I've been away for a couple of weeks doing my duties as Miss Ohio Gay Pride…but it was time to get back home.  And WOW did we get back home.  Friends had come out of the woodwork on Saturday Night!  Rikki Lee Tanner celebrated her birthday with us, Stephanie and Jules came down after their gig at Annies, Jim Rice was down (probably for the last time until after summer) from Cleveland and BrayP from CarrieFairfield even came down to play with us!!  Monica, Quasi, Mia, Miss Adonis – Leah Halston and I did our best to keep those gays entertained….it was a crazy night with a live singer and the Macarena (thanks for the trip down memory lane Mia)…but we sure did have fun!

 Sunday…ummmm….DAY OF REST!!!!

 Monday we had a fantastic dinner with the guys who own Below Zero in their new home at the Belvedere.  They invited some new neighbors and a few old friends in honor of the parents being in from SF – WOW can Mrs. Diaz Cook!  It's always nice to get to see everyone outside of the bars now and then. 

I'll be in the sweatshop this week – so if you need anything stoned (rhinestoned that is) just give me a buzz!

 This weekend?? 

Saturday we are being honored with the presence of our National Entertainer Of The Year – NINA WEST.  Monica, Jetta, Ethan and I will do our best to keep up with her (wink)  Be sure to come out to Adonis and play on Saturday night – show @ 11p

One Penny's Worth - 04.07.09

I am so energized by this past weekend's events!  We started off the weekend at Shooters on Friday for a the first show in a fundraising weekend spearheaded by Roberta Bigg.  The group was able to raise over $4,000 !!!  Congratulations to all involved in making it a huge fundraising success!

 Saturday we headed up to Columbus for the Annual Cheer Show at SomeWhere Else.  It's a huge event for them every year and I was lucky enough to get to be with Erica Evans, Maria Garrison (Miss Ohio Gay Pride 2008), Brent Fabian (Mr. Ohio Gay Pride 2009), Brianna Brooks (Miss SomeWhere Else 2009) and Hellin Bed (Miss Ohio America 2008-2009) – It was a great show and WOW do the moms and dads let loose once they get more than 5 feet away from their kids!  LOL   I hope I get to go back again next year – it was awesome - Thanks Lita!!!

 Sunday was a day of rest – but of course, house duties called and we did a bit of work on the backyard (smile).

 Monday (yesterday) I was lucky enough to be asked to give a lecture at Miami University on "the history, politics and 'how-to' of drag" as part of their diversity/awareness week.  I was a touch nervous because the weather had turned sour, but it turned out to be a wonderful event.  There were plenty of students, 4 professors and even a few people who aren't students who just wanted to take an hour drive to hear me talk (smile).  We were only supposed to be there for 45 minutes, but the questions were so good that we ended up talking for about an hour and a half with a nice little follow up afterward.  It was really nice and I hope they ask me back next year (more smiling).  Huge thanks to Kevin I, James and Laura for making the drive to Oxford to be there….you're the best!

One Penny's Worth - 04.01.09

Our first Tour of Ohio is complete and boy did we have on hell of a time. 

We started our weekend on Friday with Penny Candy @ Below Zero featuring your all request DJPennyTration!  It was a lot of fun and the gays had the ADD – we went from Jennifer Hudson to Ludacris and back to Madonna a couple of times…but everyone seemed to enjoy the music so I just kept playin (smile).  Shout-outs to Monica St. James, Joanie from Sprouts and Betsy from CityBeat (thanks for the help gal!)…We're back there on April 24th for another 80's Edition of Penny Candy!  (not to worry – I'll mix it up a little – but it'll be mostly 80's)(wink) 

Saturday morning we put on our driving clothes (read:  baggy sweat pants and a pull over) and headed to Toledo for the first Prelim in Miss Ohio Gay Pride.  We wanted to get up there early so we'd be rested for the pageant on Sunday and to see a little of Toledo.

We had some dinner at The Docks and then headed over to Ceasers to see Sylvia Austin and her crew.   We got to meet Amber Stone, Empress Fontaine, Porshe Armani and a couple of the other girls in the show.  Amber and Empress were doing their civic duty at a fundraiser and ran in for the show just before it started.  It was really good to meet everyone and get a little of the flavor of Toledo. 

Then we headed over to RHouse to get the lay of the land (and what we might be getting ourselves into on Sunday!)  Hershae and Jim had assured us that RHouse was a cute little bar and, other than the low ceilings in the dressing room (a real problem for a gurl of my stature) that we'd be happy with what we saw….and we were.  RHouse really used to be a HOUSE!!  I was cracking up – but it really used to be a house and it was kinda cute with a little patio and plenty of room for the gays. 

After a drink, we headed back to the hotel for a good night of rest – got up early on Sunday for some breakfast at Uncle John's Pancake House and then the plan was to head to the Toledo Zoo….well – weather in Northern Ohio has the tendency to change pretty rapidly and it sure did.  We ended up with snow and we thought better of going to the zoo.  Instead, we did a little antique shopping and had a fantastic day! 

The pageant started at Rhouse with one contestant, Isis Fontaine.  She did a marvelous job as did all the other gurls in the show.  Sylvia Austin was our host while Hershae, Deja, Symphony, Cinnamon and I entertained the gays.  Lita Manon (the owner of Miss Ohio Gay Pride) and Brent Fabian (Mr. Ohio Gay Pride) came up from Columbus to help me with my first prelim (thank you!!!).  Joe is a fantastic promoter and I know he and Isis will get on well.  Special shoutout to Jim Rice for coming up to play with us! 

I popped a couple of Tylenol PM just after the show and we headed to the hotel for a quick nap before heading back to Cincinnati (at 6am)….a gurl had to be back in the office on Monday Morning.  My lovely husband Will drove us all the way home while I snored in the passenger seat…I think we've both just recovered (smile).

Thanks to everyone in Toledo and Congratulations to our first Prelim Winner – Miss Toledo Gay Pride, Isis Fontaine! 

Another Huge thank you to the girls at Adonis for holding down the fort while I'm running around the country - All reports were amazing. Quasi said the show was awesome - Monica said the gays were tipping WELL - Toniqua said he kept the drag queens movin' all night long (smile)....it was a good time had by all!!

This week is no less crazy!  We'll be down at Shooters on Friday night in Cincinnat for the Night of a Thousand Queens fundraiser for StopAIDS.  The show starts at 10pm and there are too many entertainers to list – this is going to be a night to remember for sure!! 

Don't forget to stop down to Adonis for some cheap drinks and Karaoke with Will Corson on Friday Nights – Doors open at 8pm 

Saturday I'll be at SomeWhereElse in Columbus for a HUGE show as well.  Lita tells me this is one of their biggest show of the year with some great guests in from out of town for a convention….I cant wait to see what happens.

Monday I'll be at Miami University giving a lecture on the History and Politics of Drag as part of their Diversity and Awareness week…I can't wait.  It's at 7pm.  I'm working on the PowerPoint now (smile)

One Penny's Worth - 03.25.09

The last few weeks have been more fun that we should be allowed to have!  From our trip to KState, a quick ride to the top of the arch in St. Louis mixed in with trips to Dayton, Lexington, Monroe and a raump thru the very gay version of Landscaping the Backyard!  I know you're jealous LOL - In our never ending effort to keep the gays moving lest they get stale – this past weekend was a non-stop ride on the gay-train!

 Our friend Monica Moree was in town to do some early Spring Break celebrating.  We headed up to Aquarius on Friday to play with the gays in Datyon.  Taylor Made was there to cheer us on and keep me focused (thanks Taylor!!)  and I got to work with Symphony Alexander Love, Daray Lorez and Akasha O'hara Lords.  Of course we had as much fun as we could with the kids and hit the McDonalds on the way home.  I think Monica might have taken advantage of the bar service at Aquarius (wink)

 Saturday we had to do some crazy juggling of the calendar at Adonis and put together a cool show.  Monica St. James, Mirage Love, Mykalah Evans and lil ole me gave them all we had.  The show room was, as always, FULL and we had a good night – especially with our little straight boy in the front row (thanks for bringing him Courtney!!)

 Sunday was, of course, our day of rest (wink) 

This Friday I'm at Below Zero doing my DJ thing – I'm having a great time doing it even though I'm not always sure if I should lipsync every song!  LOL  It's free, so come out and play with me.  It's an all request DJ thing – so I'll play whatever you wanna hear!  As well – all my art is showing at Below Zero, so you can own a piece of Tration (smile)

Saturday the gurls will be having a good time at Adonis - Monica St. James, Mirage Love, Quasi and Sity Hall - Not to mention DJToniqua in the cabaret room and DJPatrickB on the dancefloor

Sunday is my first prelim for Miss Ohio Gay Pride - Miss Toledo Gay Pride at RHouse!   I can't wait to get there!!!!

One Penny's Worth - 02.23.09

Grab a drink from the bar….this is a rather lengthy installment of the Penny Tration Show (wink)….In This Episode:

We started off the weekend with a quick run thru Taco Bell and a hit the highway for our trip to Columbus.  Tiffanie Taylor hosts a show at SomeWhere Else one Friday a month and I got to join them.  Well, little did I know that I was joining the Bus and Truck Roadshow of Miss Saigon!  EVERY queen in Columbus was there (okay…not all of them – but WOW!)  Alli Kat, Ming Vase, Veronica Devereaux, Erica, Tiffanie, Cece Garrison, Tiffanie Taylor, Brionna Brooks (newly crowned Miss SWE),Honey Below and me plus a couple of cameos.  LORD was it fun!  I had time to walk around and say hello between numbers and even tip a couple of the girls in the show!   Some boys were down from Detroit who filled in for the DJ and we had a fun time.  Huge Thanks to the girls at SWE for letting me come play with them.  We had a really good time 

OH – did I forget to mention one little thing?  I FORGOT MY MAKEUP AT HOME!!!  Can you believe it?  Totally left all the makeup at home!  AHHHH – I went into a full fledged Homosexual Panic.  I called Paige Passion, who calles SWE home, and was able to use her cosmetics….thank god for Paige Passion.  Big thanks to Honey Below for letting me use her "melt away" to clean up after the show.  You're a star! 

So, after that fun night of drag and drinking and celebrating, we headed home and got ready for a totally relaxing day at home.   A few movies and some Chinese Food helped keep us on the couch until it was time to get ready for the show at Adonis. 

Paige Passion, Monica St. James, Darlene Love, Quasi and me started out one heck of a show!  The club was busy (again – I think everyone is getting their tax returns early!) and DJToniqua started us off right!  About half way thru the show I started my monologue. At some point I'm sure I said something horrible to a table near the far corner of the cabaret room….at some point someone was offended by something I said….It was PERFECT and a great show to boot! 

Then I happened….just after the show was over and all the lights came up - the big girl in the back row started crying because I called someone else fat.  I tried to console her, but in reality, there was no consoling the terribly drunk fat girl whose feelings had been hurt by the really mean (fat) drag queen.  I bought her another drink in hopes that it might calm her nerves – but she kept on about how it was difficult to be a "person of size" (her words) and that I should be more sensitive……I smiled an nodded and thanked her for coming and hoped she enjoyed the rest of the night.  It is certainly never our intention to hurt anyone's feelings – besides – we want them to come back (smile). 

If your feeling are easily hurt or you find yourself to be sensitive in ANY way OR you think you might be offended by just about ANYTHING – DO NOT COME TO A DRAG SHOW!  Certainly do not come a show that I'm in and might find myself near a microphone…I am going to say things that are offensive and I WILL attempt to push the boundaries of your comfort zone – Remember, I'm the one dressed up like a giant lady with my private parts shoved and pushed into places they don't belong all the while prancing around on 9" platform heels sweating like a pig in the summer heat without a mud puddle to roll around in….Oooh…and its all in good fun (smile).  If we can't laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at?  (off the soap-box) 

Then – this whole weekend in Columbus was all about Nina West and Great Lakes Entertainer of The Year.  Nick Hatley put on the show of shows again (after being named Prelim of the year last year).  We weren't able to make it back up there with a thousand errands to run on Sunday, but my phone has been buzzing ever since!  Nina's Step-Down from GLEOY was stunning (ANOTHER new dress!) and, of course, everyone loves her and the pageant was run perfectly.  Trinity Taylor was crowned and you'll see all kinds of video on youtube in the coming days. 

We spent all day Sunday running around and finally headed to City Cellars to UnInstall the art that I'd shown there for the last 6 weeks.  It was a good run (I sold 4!) and it was time for a new artist.  In the meantime, if there's anything you're interested in – head over to Below Zero – they have penty of new stuff up – besides, you should stop in for a cocktail anyway! 

OOOH – and Will made the best White Chocolate/Chocolate Chunk Hershey Brownies EVER!  He's so good!!!!!  I mean – they're so gooooood!!! (wink) 

NOW – what's coming up? 

I'll be at Below Zero giving you some 80's vibe on Friday Night!  It's gonna be a fun night again as I do my best Impression of a DJ at Below Zero on the last Friday of Every Month.  Join me upstairs and I'll play whatever you wanna hear (smile). 

Then – we're off on a road trip to the middle of the country for the KState "History of Drag" show on March 3rd.  Chelsea Pearl, Nina West, Monica St. James, Monica Moree (hosting), Penny Tration and More!  If you're in the middle of the country – join us at KState for one hell of  a show

One Penny's Worth - 02.17.09

This past weekend makes me thankful that I take Sunday as an official day of rest – WOW did we work it out for the gays this weekend! 

Friday Night we started off at Old Street for the Quasi and Friends show.  The RRSM (Rachel's Run Soccer Moms) were out in full force and we had a fantastic time as always.  I did my video blog up there and we'll have that posted soon (should have been up already but I've been busy with some rhinestoning – eeeek).  A big thanks to Krystal Lamour who joined me and Monica and Quasi.  Monica sported her new red dress for Valentine's Day and the straight ladies were clamoring around her all night!  I think Quasi might have even sold the shoes right off her feet! 

Don't forget the Happy Hour and Karaoke at Adonis every Friday.  We were down there last week and the crowds have really built up!  Will Corson does his world-famous Karaoke and the gays just keep showing up! 

Saturday we started off very early in the evening for the Red, Hot and Flaming event – a fundraiser for Caracole (www.caracole.org) at Adonis.  There are all kinds of people to thank and it was an amazing turnout.  Of course, Joe and Hector were my favorites of the night.  You gays never cease to amaze me.  The best news of all is that we were able to raise $9,000 in the course of a 45 minute bachelor auction!  The folks at Caracole have already expressed their most sincere gratitude.   

Then we were onto our ShowGurls show which started a touch late (sorry – I had to change!).  Candi Stratton came down and gave them all the Cher she had in her followed by our showgurls Monica St. James and Quasi.  It was an awesome show.  Another Huge thanks to DJToniqua for keeping us looking like professionals (smile). 

On a side note – I am still showing a ton of my artwork at Below Zero (where I'm a DJ on the final Friday of every month – Feb 27th is our next gig upstairs).  They gays keep snapping them up and I just keep painting!  As well, this is my last week at City Cellars in Downtown Cincinnati.  They have 12 paintings up thru Sunday this week.  It's been a great run there as well.  Don't miss their Tuesday Tastings. 

This Friday I'll be at Somewhere Else in Columbus, OH.  I haven't been up there in a while and I'm really excited to see all of our friends!  Brionna Brooks just won Miss Somewhere Else – make sure to check her out and send her some congratulations! 

Saturday I'm back at the carpet bar for the ShowGurls @ Adonis Featuring Miss Ohio Gay Pride 2007, Paige Passion and our showgurls Darlene Love and Quasi.

One Penny's Worth - 02.10.09

Let me just say this – If you have not already made a trip to Columbus, Ohio for a West Family Production, you are certainly missing one of the greatest shows on earth! 

This weekend was fantastic! We started off on Friday at Adonis for some Happy Hour/Karaoke and Dave's Birthday Party.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAVE!!!!!!  Nothing like a bunch of drunken attorneys singing Karaoke at a gay bar!  LOL   We hung out 'til about midnight and then headed home.  Our intention was to drive up to Columbus, but though better of it after a night out on the town. 

So, Saturday morning we got up early (huge thanks to my sister for taking our lovely little doggie ginger for the weekend), packed the car and headed to Columbus for a quick rehearsal and lunch with the West Family (Virginia, Nina and Company) at Union.  After a quick run to check into the hotel and a trip to the HomeDepot and Michael's for some last minute costume additions – we were back at Axis for the final run-thru before the show.  Virginia West Presents, FREAK SHOW! 

The cast was very large and Mark, Katy, Jason and Colin as dancers (they're always amazing)  Candi Panties as the bearded lady, Alexis Stevens as the Evil Clown, June Bug as the bitchy Emcee (smile), Virginia West and the RingMaster, Nina West as the girl with four legs and two pussies, Samantha Rollins as half woman/half alligator, Maria Garrison as the Worlds Strongest Woamn, Vee Love as the Snake Charmer, Natasha West as Bridget the midget, and the conjoined twins (who's names I can NEVER remember! DAMN) who are miraculously separated by the end of the show.  I got to play the old RingMaster who lost the Freak Show in a Craps Game at the Denny's off i-70 in Dayton (wink).
